SVP, Finance

The SVP, Finance is responsible for directing the finance and accounting functions of the corporation in accordance with GAAP in a QuickBooks Enterprise environment. Additionally, this role oversees the finance and accounting service teams providing both strategic financial guidance as well as day-to-day accounting services and reporting to a portfolio of more than 100 clients. The ideal candidate will possess a servant leadership philosophy and have experience working within or providing services to both non-profit and for-profit businesses through leading teams (both client and staff) located in remote offices as well as teleworkers. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's fiscal function and performance.
  • Participate in the development of the corporation's plans and programs as a member of the senior management team.
  • Evaluate (diligence) potential acquisition targets and/or strategic partnerships
  • Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends.
  • Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation.
  • Provide financial advice and knowledge to corporate leaders as well as client leaders.
  • Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position.
  • Be an advisor from the financial perspective on any contracts into which the corporation may enter.
  • Evaluate the finance team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as provide individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on opportunities (where possible) of individuals.
  • Determines staffing requirements, interviews, hires and trains new employees, and oversees those personnel processes.
  • Acts as a collaborative team member within the organization, embodying the organization's values pointed to innovation and service excellence.
  • Fosters a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company.

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting plus 15+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CPA or public accounting experience not required but a plus;
  • Direct experience in a high growth professional services company, preferably in the not for profit sector.
  • Minimum of 10 years progressively increasing experience leading teams of varying levels of experience and expertise; knowledge of servant leadership philosophy and practices
  • Strong command of general accounting and finance principles and ability to create, maintain and analyze P&L (accrual and cash basis), Balance Sheet, Cash flow, etc.;
  • Strong background and understanding of accounting concepts including GAAP, revenue recognition;
  • Experience providing financial counsel and presenting financial reports to Senior Management, including Boards and other Executive teams;
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal; capable of presenting complex financial information in an easy-to-understand format to non-financial executives
  • Familiar with concepts, practices, and procedures of financial planning & analysis
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel including charting. Experience using PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office applications as well as QuickBooks Enterprise.
  • Detail-oriented, with strong, effective organizational, problem solving and time-management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment;
  • Must be a self-starter with ability to create and manage high performance teams, and work independently and as a strong team player, under pressure, with hands-on financial skills.
