General Manager - Machine Shop

An industrial engine component repair service company that caters to the needs of marine, power generation, and oil & gas industries is seeking a General Manager (GM). This company specializes in the remanufacturing of industrial engine blocks, cylinder heads, and connecting rods. The GM will have full operational responsibility and accountability for all aspects of the business.  

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement strategic planning of the facilities operations to ensure continued success on meeting customer expectations
• Deliver profitability objectives while making resource allocation decisions and manage pricing, production costs, and spending
• Ability to plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
• Provide necessary technical guidance to manufacturing functions to resolve quality, performance, and process efficiency issues
• Promoting and ensuring a safe and environmentally compliant work environment
• Review financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction, inventory management, and program improvement

Requirements:

Successful candidate will have 10+ years of documented successful career growth in the machine shop/manufacturing and fabrication environments, preferably with a small to mid-size corporation, and with at least three years of profit and loss responsibilities. Experience should also include business development, selling, and production management.

Must possess strong verbal, administrative, interpersonal, and problem solving skills. Able to recruit, coach, develop and retain an efficient production team.  Thorough knowledge of pertinent OSHA regulations is important.
